“I am from” poem {all about me}
I am from reflections of mirrors and brushes and combs
I am from garbage cans with dogs and with old people sitting talking gossip like
“Why are little kids dressing like they all pretty so men can do something
bad to them”
I am from trains and crowded buses that sounds like a whole bunch of dogs barking at once. I am from community centers too.
I am from my mother Sinoun and my cousin Loreal which they both look exactly like me, also my cousin which swears that she has a big booty
I am from food like hot, spicy curry and delicious chicken
I am from “Yo bye me something” to “Missy stop acting like everything’s yours”
I am from memories in my closet and my grandma’s too.
I am from a family whose tongues speak Cambodian and English.
I am from Volleyball and Handball too.
I am from wavy/puffy, to long brown and black hair.
I am from the rhythem of kinds of music like freestyle to hip-hop.
All of this comes from a Cambodian!!
